The medical team is  comprised of flight RN,EMT-P and flight EMT-P personnel.  The members of the medical team have years of critical care / emergency experience and are certified providers in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).  The medical crew went through intense training prior to flying patients, which included rotations in the intensive care unit (ICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), operating room (intubations), emergency department and labor and delivery.  The crew is required to maintain their skills in the units listed above.  The medical crew has developed an excellent rapport with the trauma surgeons and receives feedback on patient care treatment and current trends.  The team functions as a vital part of the trauma team.The aircraft serves as an advanced air medical intensive care unit.  The medical crew's clinical capabilities include;

  • Trauma / Cardiac / Pediatric resuscitation
  • Advanced airway management (including surgical interventions
  • Advanced pain management and sedation
  • Mechanical Ventilation
  • Rapid Sequence Induction
  • Pleural Decompression
  • Invasive and non-invasive cardiac monitoring
  • External jugular IV therapy
  • Adult and Pediatric intraosseous therapy
